Our intention and history have been to offer esoteric materials that appeal to eclectic interests. Nights of Horror, Volume 1, certainly meets those criteria. This vintage publication fills 80 pages with two short stories, each of which has multiple chapters. The volume has 10 ink illustrations by Superman co-creator Joe Shuster. Pictures have been modified for this video but are complete in the e-book.
Nights of Horror was originally published by Malcla Publishing in 1953. This rare, 16-volume series was the subject of legal action involving a Manhattan bookstore the following year. The mayor's office prosecuted Kingsley Books for allegedly selling literature that violated decency law. They lost at the trial level and on appeal. A small fine was levied.
Men dominate, but women also abuse. Some of the stories may have been loosely based on sensational fiction found in detective magazines in the 1930s and 1940s. These typically told damsel-in-distress tales, but without much...

In this implausible tale, transvestites are connected to each other by an obscure history that ended before the comic's action begins. The plot involves blackmail, disguise and an unexpected exposure among characters who change their sexy fetish apparel often.
Bilbrew is not only the illustrator, but the dramatist, story-teller, costumer, and dialogist, as well. The bold curves in facial features (brilliant eyebrows) present strong female characters in dramatic make-up and a spectrum of stormy moods. His lines have a lightness here that accomplish the femininity of the title without force. The irrepressible femaleness within the male characters supplies the force of the story. These are urges that transvestites such as Mr. Bilbrew implicitly understand, and here, at his best, he artfully depicts.

Through the 1960's, Selbee Associates [Leonard Burtman] published a full-sized magazine titled High Heels. The magazine presented lovely models with shapely limbs in high-heeled shoes and boots. Many of the models were burlesque dancers but some were experienced pinup posers. They include Alice Denham, Kathey Keene, Tana Louise, Toni Troy, Charlotte King, Sandra Evans, Penni Peyton, Yvonne Warner, Gloria Rand, Michelle Dorian, Bonnie Jewett, Janine Tyrone, Ursula Herrman, Tina Cruz, Betsy Russell, Yvonne Garcia, Zorita, Tee Tee Red, Heather Christie, Helene West, Candy Gee, Vicki Sommers and others, with an occasional appearance by Betty Page.
Pages were also brightened by the comic art of Eric Stanton and Gene 'Eneg' Bilbrew. These illustrators also provided pictures for the short stories that were in most issues. Many issues had a letters to the editor section, accompanied by amateur snapshots, taken at home. This hobbyist photography sometimes showed the best heels in an...

In the 1950s, Irving Klaw contracted with many artists to produce comic serials for his mail order business. Illustrators included Gene (Eneg) Bilbrew, Eric Stanton, Mario, Adolfo Ruiz, (Swiss) Jim, Jay and others.
The originals arranged each multi-panel episode in a rectangle that was chemically printed on photo paper. With both vertical and horizontal orientations, the photo sheets' panels were often adjacent to a block of narrative text. Mr. Klaw advertised these episodes in bulletins he would mail to customers and in men's magazines. To avoid conflict with postal authorities, the comic images never showed nudity or sexual conduct.
The erotic weight of these works was expressed through the restraints, poses they produced, and fetish costumes of both the damels in dressage and their sexy captors. Some serials described rubber attire and bondage situations as hobbies. Some stories involved tyrannical households, institutions, adventures or kidnapping.

Many issues of this lifestyle magazine are filled with pretty models dressed in leather, stockings and high-heeled pumps and boots. Many scenarios involve an errant man whose misconduct is apprehended by a woman he knows. When the female changes into her sheers, heels and leathers, she is empowered. Sexy and ascendant, the female avenger enforces her outrage and a discipline regimen that transforms the transgressor into a remorseful citizen who knows his place. Lots of illustrations by Gene Bilbrew and Eric Stanton.

Description: In Irving Klaw's Nutrix booklets and Ed Mishkin's Mutrix booklets, Gene Bilbrew illustrated many transvestite stories with ink drawings that captured the penumbras of gender mix. The expert fiction approached the transvestite lifestyle from several directions, exploring self-discovery, introduction, training and forced feminization, both as revenge and as a means of control. The prose often included detailed descriptions of frilly female attire, including undergarments and fetish footwear.

A popular and prolific creator during the second half of the 20th century, the illustrations of Eric Stanton continue to influence erotic art today. Images of slender damsels in impossible high heels and constricting corsetry characterized his earliest work for Irving Klaw. In the 1960s, he produced for Leonard Burtman and other publishers, illuminating transvestite and fetish fiction and drawing wrestling comics. Then, he moved into the realm of dominant divas who reign over men. Throughout his career, he pursued the imagery of strong women who defeated men in athletic contests.
