Singapore has truly innovated with the first ever city night race, probably to leverage on the Video Game culture that surrounds us (I am indeed like most of us, a "Grand Tourismo" and "Need for Speed" addict).
Will the strategy pay ? KAE thinks that the uniqueness of such the Singapore F1 race will put Singapore on the global sport and entertainment map and tourists will eventually flow in large numbers to catch what will definitely become a mythical race. However Singapore needs a few more yearly anchor events to become a global sport hub like London, Paris, NYC and others. Nonetheless this is a great start putting Singapore in the Asian pole position. No pun intended...

Sentosa has all it needs to be the next "Saint Tropez of Asia". Plush villas, funky bars, bikinis clad visitors, adequate infrastructure, and great weather. However it needs to clean its beaches if Sentosa wants to eventually attracts Davis Beckam and Posh as semi-residents.
This video was taken outside the Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa. I trust the "Fine-City" must have answers to this greasy problem.

Textile is one of China's largest industries; it contributes US$ 420 billion to the national GDP. Exports of China's textile industry were valued at US$178 billion in 2007 and contributed US$150 billion to China's trade surplus.
Impressive numbers but China's textile industry is actually facing a crisis that could dramatically change its 'texture", no pun intended.
The industry is highly fragmented: 40,000 companies with annual sales above ~ USD 0.5 million and another hundred thousand smaller players which all are facing the same challenges:
- Recent appreciation of the Chinese RMB of some 15% percent against USD and reduction of VAT rebates have directly affected already thin bottom line profitability.
- Rising competition from lower cost countries (specifically Bangladesh, India, and Vietnam).
- Risk hedging of 'large Wal-Mart buyers' splitting orders between countries instead of going "China only". More short term purchasing contracts.
- A cotton shortage of 3.6 million tons...
