On Friday, August 1st, 2008, a unique event took place at a quaint photo studio just north of downtown Denver Colorado. Bikers and art lovers were taken in by the sound of garage rock and blues, the taste of bar-b-que and beer, the smell of exhaust and burning rubber, and the sight of many talented artists' pieces on display. This combination thrilled the senses and made this event one to remember. Steve Schader of American Throttle (www.americanthrottle.com) and Eric Trujillo of Art in the City combined their expertise to coordinate an exhibit of motorcycle art. By adding a few vendors, catered bar-b-que from Jim N' Nick's BarBQue, and having a local band Emilio Emilio play four sets of rockin' rhythm and blues throughout the evening, they were able to capture the look and feel of a mini motorcycle rally. P'taah is Brann's opportunity to move out of the house-music spectrum and experiment with alternative approaches to making club and electronic music. Compressed Light was the debut album from P'taah -moving effortlessly between soundtrack-like downtempo jazz cuts to energetic fusions of percussion and club beats. Following "Compressed Light" was "Decompressed", an album of remixes including the huge broken beat anthem "The Crossing" remix by Opaque (aka Seiji). A third album of P'taah material is in the works. Tentatively titled "Staring At The Sun" it's set for release in Spring 2003, with a single featuring Atjazz remixes out in November 2002. The beauty of P'taah is in Brann's ability to combine organic instruments with cutting edge studio trickery.
