German envoy attacks MPs for bad behaviour on US junket A German diplomat has criticised a group of bundestag MPs over their behaviour on a recent visit to San Francisco, accusing them of using a racial slur and of choosing sightseeing and shopping above meetings with US counterparts. Rolf Schütte, the German consul general in San Francisco, wrote to the foreign ministry in Berlin to express his outrage. His confidential letter, which is furious and frank in tone, has been leaked to the German press and created a public debate about the legitimacy of publicly funded foreign political trips and whether they should be more tightly controlled. Nazism: UN condemns while Estonia celebrates The Bush government vote against the resolution. The UN General Assemblys Third Committee has adopted a resolution proposed by Russia on tackling the glorification of Nazism and the desecration of WWII monuments. Meanwhile a 2008-2009 calendar published in Estonia can easily be considered the glorifying of Nazism personified. As George Orwell once noted, who controls the present controls the past. It looks like those, who control the present in certain counties dont mind at all to rewrite the past in favor of Nazism. This is something that hardly goes in line with the United Nations principles. This was stressed once more when the General Assembly's Third Committee (on social and humanitarian issues) voted in favour of the Russian-proposed resolution on combating racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance.
