An eating ritual - A co-production by Laika, Le Volcan Scène nationale du Havre (F), the Cultural Centre Genk (B) and Linz 2009, Cultural Capital Europe (AU) Ignoring the boundaries of countries and generations, three actors, a female dancer and two chefs concoct a new eating ritual that walks the tight-rope between the subdued concentration of a Japanese tea ceremony and the exuberance of a cannibal dance. They draw inspiration from familiar and exotic pots and pans to put together a universal menu for their audience. Obscure vegetables and products from overseas bubble away in a melting-pot of customs and practices. The victuals are dished up and served to those present with great care and devotion and with respect for convention. Taste buds are caught off guard, gastronomic reason is challenged.
