As Biblical Christianity was dying out in Germany, Friedrich Nietzsche identified a problem in Germany's system of public education. Sadly, Nietzsche had already rejected the solution: Biblical Christianity. Calvinism understands that education is never the job of the government, but non-believers look to man for their salvation. Most people think it is the governments job to educate our children. So rather than doing away with public education, they seek to reform it. Sometimes, even those outside of Christianity come to identify the problem. Friedrich Nietzsche understood the poor quality of public education. Like most people today, Nietzsche was not happy with public education. He believed the best public education could offer, especially in large nations, was an average education.
