John Lennon - Grow Old With Me "Grow Old With Me" is one of the final songs written by John Lennon in 1980, which later appeared on the posthumous album, Milk and Honey in 1984. Since its release, the song has become a staple at wedding ceremonies. The song was inspired from two different sources: from a poem penned by Robert Browning, entitled Rabbi Ben Ezra, and a song by Lennon's wife, Yoko Ono, entitled "Let Me Count The Ways" (which in turn had been inspired from a poem by Elizabeth Barrett Browning). Lennon and Ono had for some time admired the poetry of Robert and Elizabeth Browning, and the two songs were purposely written with the couple in mind. Ono woke up one morning in the summer of 1980 with the music of "Let Me Count The Ways" in her head and promptly rang Lennon in Bermuda to play it for him. John Lennon - Nobody Told Me "Nobody Told Me" is a John Lennon song, featured as the first single released from John Lennon and Yoko Ono's Milk and Honey album in 1984. The song was originally written for Ringo Starr to include on his Stop and Smell the Roses album, but Lennon was killed before the song could be used. "Nobody Told Me" was Lennon's last single to reach the top ten on Billboard magazine's Hot 100, peaking at #5. The B-side features Yoko Ono's "O'Sanity", also from the Milk and Honey album. The lyrics make reference to "a little yellow idol to the north of Kathmandu" which is similar to a line from J. Milton Hayes' poem entitled The Green Eye of the Yellow God. Hayes' line was "Theres a one-eyed yellow idol to the north of Khatmandu". Another line in the song is "There's a UFO over New York and I ain't too surprised", apparently a reference to a UFO sighting Lennon had back in 1974. He made reference to this in the liner notes to his 1974 album Walls and Bridges...

Written primarily by John Lennon with help from Paul McCartney,the song is notable for its unusual structure, which includes an unrepeated introductory section (introduced as an afterthought as of take 11) followed by sequential verse sections,each having a slightly expanded form,but with no obvious chorus or bridge section.The song also features a two-part harmony,sung by Lennon and McCartney together into a single microphone at their suggestion,and intricate chord changes.The key changes from D flat major to D major between the introduction (a series of descending barre chords) and the main song,which uses mainly open chords, including an unusual D ninth.
