Heavenly Mountain Resort was able to open over the holiday weekend thanks to favorable temps and their expansive snowmaking system. Over one the North Shore, Squaw Valley USA was open for Mountain Top Dining and ice skating via the scenic Cable Car as well as snow tubing at the Papoose Center. Smučišče Vogel nad Bohinjskim jezerom. To smučišče nudi lep razgled na bohinjske hribe. Smučanje je na njem možno tudi do maja. Najprej z nihalko iz Ukanca do izstopne postaje Rjava skala potem pa je možno z sedežnicami vse do pod sam vrh Šije ( 1800 m ) Konec novembra 2008 na njem že 1 meter snega. (Ski-resort Vogel is inside the National Park of Triglav above the Lake of Bohinj. It offers an impressive view and not very difficult skiing on the natural snow. Good for snowboarders too.)
