Originally diagnosed as PDD-NOS at 16 months, Lucas now has classic signs of hyperlexia. This video is taken at 3 yrs and 10 months of him spelling one of the many words he knows. Though we read to him often, no one has shown him how to spell or read. This is all self-learned. A clear, concise version of 'Tics and Compulsions: The big difference' with extra information about tics and compulsions. Many people think that tics and compulsions are on different ends on the same spectrum. Although they are connected in some ways and people with either Tourette syndrome or obsessive compulsive disorder will often have traits of the other, tics and compulsions are different in that they are responses to different things. I begin by explaining my previous theory and then explain my revised theory and end with some more insights into tics and compulsions. Please note that this video is based on personal theory and not medical or scientific fact. None of my videos are for sympathy, just for education. This is not a comedy. This is Ashley, age 14-autistic, painting her mask during art therapy. She had to draw what she wanted the finished mask to look like, have the mask formed on her face, sand the mask, transpose the drawing onto the mask with pencil, & paint the mask. Her sister Virginia is working on her mask titled "Lady of the Sun". These masks will be displayed in the near future in an art exhibit.
