Überwinterung von Mauerseglern - ist möglich, aber nur in fachkundigen Händen Manche Segler schaffen es leider nicht bis zum Herbst die Reise in den Süden anzutreten, die meisten wegen schlechtem Gefieder. Kaum jemand kann schiften und bisher gibt es auch keine Rückmeldungen, ob geschiftete Mauersegler überleben. Die Bildqualität ist leider sehr schlecht, das ändert sich hoffentlich demnächst. Trotzdem, sie fühlen sich hier wohl und nehmen das Futter alle aus der Hand, bei sehr gutem Ernährungszustand. Das ist eine Grundbedingung für die Überwinterung.

I haven't slept in days. It could very well be because Kevin has been tossing around in his sleep. I think he's been having nightmares but he hasn't told me yet. I rolled out of bed and went to start getting ready for work. I suddenly heard screaming coming from the room. I ran in to check on Kevin and he was curled up on the bed, shivering. Me: Kevin *shaking him lightly* wake up. Kevin: *shaking his head* What's going on. Me: Sweetie, you were dreaming...again. Is there something you want to tell me. Kevin: No, I'm Ok, really... just can't sleep. Sorry I woke you so early. Me: That's Ok, I have to go to work anyways. Kevin: mmmm, stay here with me. Me: I can't, I have to go. I'm gonna finish getting dressed. I started to get up and go to my closet and get out my clothes. Forgetting that he's just watching I started to get undressed and change into my work clothes. The Guess Who started out as a local Winnipeg band formed by singer/guitarist Chad Allan in 1960 and initially called Al and the Silvertones. This was changed to Chad Allan & the Reflections in 1962, by which point the band consisted of Chad Allan (vocals/guitar), Bob Ashley (keyboards), Randy Bachman (guitars), Jim Kale (bass), and Garry Peterson (drums). All the band members were born in Winnipeg. The band's debut single ("Tribute To Buddy Holly") was released on Canadian-American Records in 1962. Chad Allan and the Reflections then signed with Quality Records and released several flop singles in 1963/64, including one mis-credited to Bob Ashley & The Reflections. By 1965, the group was forced to change its name to Chad Allan & the Expressions after a U.S. group called The Reflections had scored a hit with "Just Like Romeo & Juliet". It was at this point that the band scored their first hit, a 1965 rendition of Johnny Kidd & the Pirates' "Shakin' All Over". This track reached #1...

Here is a less blurry but still HOT video in which I compare the radioactivity of the natural background (cosmic rays and other unavoidable environmental sources) to pure uranium-238 to that of a crystal of the mineral uraninite (uranium oxide). The result is counterintuitive, but can be explained by the fact the uraninite is immensely old, and contains the decay products of uranium, including a tiny bit of radium and other short-lived, continually-replenished radioactive daughter products. And radium is far more radioactive than uranium-238. (Oops, I gave away the surprise!) In addition, I give an indication as to why I can (sanely) have this stuff in my dwelling. Take a look...you'll see! (But never store radioactive sources near sleeping or eating quarters, and always thoroughly wash your hands after handling them!)
